The workshops complex at John Knox Street is now complete. With
a total development value in excess of £2 million, the complex
comprises four blocks of over 22 000 sq.ft of quality small
workshop accommodation, with 25 individual units ranging of 469
sq.ft. up to 1170 sq.ft. The project has been undertaken in
partnership with West Dunbartonshire Council, the European Union
and Scottish Enterprise.
Even in these difficult times, the development has a high occupancy
level and over 50 jobs are presently based at the Workshops.
The initial stage of development, comprising 3 blocks was
designed by Gordon Murray + Alan Dunlop Architects, has picked up
several prestigious national and international accolades including
an award from the Royal Incorporation of British Architects, the
Best Regeneration Project at the Scottish Design Awards and the
Chicago Atheneum award. It also featured in a piece on iconic small
developments on BBC2's Culture Show. The fourth block designed by
Anderson Bell Christie architects was completed in Summer 2009 and
is being put forward for several design awards.
There are a limited number of units available for immediate
occupancy. Rents in the current market are highly competitive for
quality accommodation at a landmark location.
