Clydebank has a fine set of buildings at the centre of the town
- the "B" listed Town Hall designed by James Miller, the 'B' listed
library and the former baths and swimming pool in Bruce
Street.
West Dunbartonshire Council commissioned Clydebank re-built to
undertake a space planning study early in 2009 to identify how best
to improve and reuse the three, buildings. This was completed in
September 2009 and is currently with the Council for
assessment.
TOWN HALL
West Dunbartonshire Council and Clydebank re-built are working in partnership to improve the functioning of the town centre and to complement development activity on the riverside.
Other projects being advanced:
The council-owned Playdrome leisure centre site has been marketed for a food superstore. Tesco has been identified as the preferred bidder and it is envisaged that the deal will be completed in early 2011.
Clydebank re-built is beginning the upgrading of strategic accesses around the town centre and Chalmers Street and transport hub. This will involve streetscape and new junction formation in the Hume Street and Alexander Street area as well as provision of new bus bays on Chalmers Street.
